Accelerating circular flows of furniture, inventory and building material for Kungsbacka Municipality.
“Xvii has taken on the feasibility study with great commitment, a high level of ambition and has consistently delivered at a very high level. A particular strength we would like to highlight is their unpretentious way of approaching tasks. They have not shied away from getting out into the real world - to recycling centers, various storage rooms etc to find the needed information.”

The big why
Kungsbacka Municipality has global, national and municipal sustainability goals that guides them. They want to find a new way to extend the life of existing resources through reuse and make better use of the municipality's furniture, inventories and building materials to avoid that functional products and materials end up as waste.
The Challenge Today
The municipality had tried an approach already a while back, but needed a new investigation of the business potential and help to develop different business concepts and alternatives to create better conditions and capabilities for increasing sustainable and circular flows of furniture, interior and building materials within the municipality.
The Solution
The Xvii team examined Kungsbacka Municipality's needs, behaviors and driving forces to understand how these can be met. The team also investigated how other municipalities work with reuse and identified key success factors and challenges to succeed in practice. The insights were turned into recommendations for operational, financial, business and organizational goals and change models for how to enable more circular flows of furniture, inventory and building materials.
Based on the feasibility study, the steering committee has decided to introduce a reuse operation for furniture and interior products. In addition, the steering group has decided to hand over the recommendations for building materials to the facility management organization within service administration which will continue to work on the recommendations in a separate project.
